Destinations of Coconut Oil Export in December 2017

Export of coconut oil in December consisted of 39,434 MT crude coconut oil, 23,629 MT cochin (refined, bleached) oil, and 2,393 MT RBD (refined, bleached and deodorized) oil, the aggregate value of which was USD101.456 million.  The US was this month’s top buyer at 29,165 MT of all oil types (44.6% of total), closely trailed by Europe at 27,949 MT (42.7%), then Japan 3,631 MT, Malaysia 3,041 MT, China 1,064 MT. 

Europe remained primary market for crude coconut oil at 27,453 MT (Netherlands 26,453, Germany 1,000), followed by the US at 8,881 MT, Malaysia 3,000 MT and Japan 100 MT.  Cochin oil market leader was the US at 19,084 MT, tracked by Japan at 3,520 MT, China 882 MT, Europe 103 (Germany 63, Poland 20, France 19), New Zealand 21 MT, Sri Lanka 20 MT.  The US also was leading buyer of RBD coconut oil at 1,199 MT.  Trailing far behind were Europe at 394 MT (Netherlands 374, Hungary 20), Argentina 247 MT, China 182 MT, Sri Lanka 123 MT, Saudi Arabia 84 MT, Malaysia 41 MT, Canada 21 MT, Pakistan 21 MT, Israel 20 MT, Taiwan 17 MT, Vietnam 17 MT, Australia 16 MT, Japan 11 MT.
