Destinations of Coconut Oil Export in July
Thursday, October 27, 2022Export of coconut oil in July consisted of 66,831 MT crude coconut oil, 30,625 MT cochin (refined, bleached) coconut oil; and 15,190 MT RBD (refined, bleached and deodorized, or fully refined) coconut oil.
Leading destination of coconut oil during the month was the US with uptake amounting to 41,096 MT representing 36.5% of the total coconut oil mix. Europe was second biggest market at 30,088 MT (26.7%), followed by Malaysia at 17,000 MT (15.1%), China at 14,094 MT (12.5%), Indonesia at 8,000 MT (7.1%), Japan at 1,792 MT (1.6%) and a few others with much lower purchases.
Bulk of crude coconut oil shipment went to Europe at 29,776 MT (Netherlands 20,776, Spain 9,000), trailed by Malaysia at 15,000 MT, the US at 14,055 MT, and Indonesia at 8,000 MT. On the other hand, the US was market leader in cochin oil at 25,875 MT which represents bulk of the country’s coconut oil import. Other destinations were China at 3,000 MT and Japan at 1,750 MT.
Importers of RBD coconut oil numbered 17 with China heading the list at 11,094 MT, trailed by Malaysia at 2,000 MT and the US at 1,166 MT which made up the top three. Other markets included Europe with uptake at 313 MT (Netherlands 273, Belgium 20, Germany 19), Taiwan 164 MT, Australia 89 MT, South Africa 68 MT, Pakistan 63 MT, Argentina 48 MT, Brazil 42 MT, Japan 42 MT, South Korea 34 MT, and five others with orders ranging 1-24 MT namely Vietnam, Lebanon, Hong Kong, United Arab Emirates, Colombia.
