Sri Lanka Expects Coconut Prices to Stabilize After May
Thursday, February 27, 2025
A news report from Colombo (News 1st) this week said the Coconut Development Authority (CDA) expects coconut prices to return to previous prices after May. The chairman of CDA Shantha Ranatunga noted that businesses authorized to import coconuts and coconut products, will begin imports in the coming days.
The Coconut Research Institute of Sri Lanka has estimated the expected reduction of harvest for the first four months of this year at 200 million coconuts according to Ranatunga, adding that permission has been granted to import coconut milk, coconut powder, and coconuts to bridge the gap created by the reduced harvest.
